The Client:
Invisso (formerly Euromoney Conferences).

The Challenge:
To bring to life my suggestion that Invisso incorporate the fast-moving developments in machine learning and AI into their flagship annual conference, The Global Borowers and Investors Forum. A particular focus was to be the impact on bank capital, especially my core specialization in Hybrid Capital.

Solution Proposed:
I oversaw all aspects of this initiative, from agenda formulation, content development, speaker selection, panel moderation and related areas. I researched and selected speakers and other attendees drawing upon my own contacts following several decades in the capital markets and researched new speakers from relevant enclaves of the digital world. This involved preparing a tailored agenda with content curated to the audience profile and the latest advances in the field, constantly updated in line with unfolding events. It also involved promotional work supporting the marketing team at meetings and on video calls with prospective sponsors.
The work culminated in my chairing the AI/Digitalisation stream at the two-day June 2024 conference and moderating several panels exploring both the opportunities and risks that emerging technology brings to the capital markets.
Along with introducing the opening keynote speech from David Wakeling, Partner at A&O Shearman and Eleanor Ley, Innovation Lead - International Capital Markets, also at A&O Shearman, which set us up extremely well for the day, I moderated two panels, evaluating the likely impact of AI on capital markets and an assessment of initiatives already underway.
I concluded the day’s proceedings by conducting an enlightening interview with Enzo Mangone, Team Lead at the ECB, on AT1 after market turbulence during 2023, reprising aspects of my former role heading the AT1 function and related areas at several banks.​
The Outcome:
Feedback was excellent from all stakeholders, including the client, and I remain emboldened by the level of engagement with this all-new digital stream I had the pleasure to chair.
It was encouraging to witness panelists and attendees embrace change with both blue sky thinking and practical observations across all topics. Client testimonial available upon request.
